Canoe/Kayak Training

HCC does not offer formal paddling instruction. Roll sessions are held at a local indoor swimming pool during the spring for members to brush up on their rolling skills, and safety instruction is held during the summer for self-rescue technique practice. Informal still-water paddling instruction is held occasionally, depending upon demand.

ACA-sanctioned canoe and kayak moving water classes are held each year by the Birmingham Canoe Club.

Formal training is also sponsored by the Tennessee Scenic River Association and the University of Alabama in Birmingham Special Studies Department.
